FIFA 18 FUT Legends May Be Exclusive to the PS4

FIFA 18’s first look is due on June 2 which would detail its gameplay, modes, and possibly marketing partners. In the past Microsoft has had marketing rights to the FIFA series. But this may not be the case any more.

In an interview with Time, Shawn Layden President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment America and Chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios namedropped the fabled franchise along with several other games that are exclusive to the PS4 or have exclusive marketing deals with Sony. He had this to say:

FIFA 18 FUT Legends May Be Exclusive to the PS4“It’s also the breadth of type of games,” he continues. “And once you get up in the heady heights of 100 million units, you’re talking of a different audience altogether, where having this range of stuff like Detroit: Become Human and FIFA and Call of Duty and Star Wars, it makes the job a whole lot easier.”

Throw in the fact that PES 2018 was announced without any exclusive editions to the PS4 or Xbox One, lends further credence that Sony may be in the running for FIFA.

It’s no secret that outside the US, and especially markets like India and Europe, FIFA is a system seller. So it is possible that Layden just mentioned FIFA due to its popularity. If Sony does have marketing rights, it could also mean that FUT Legends – which was an Xbox One exclusive in the past, would be solely for the PS4.

Pokemon Direct 2017: Every Pokemon Game and Release Date for Nintendo Switch and 3DS You Need to Know

At the Pokemon Direct Event, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, Pokken Tournament DX, and Pokemon Sun and Gold were announced. These would be for the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo’s Virtual Console for the Nintendo 3DS respectively.

Headlining with Pokken Tournament DX, it will see a release on the Nintendo Switch on September 22, 2017. Much like its predecessors, it is a fighting game. The game contains five new Pokemon, ranked, friendly, and group matches for online play, and there will be a playable demo from June 13. It will be shown off during Nintendo’s Treehouse Live Event at E3 2017.

In addition to this, Nintendo also revealed Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for the Nintendo 3DS. These will be enhanced versions of last year’s Pokemon Sun and Moon sporting a new storyline, seemingly better graphics, and new pokemon. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon for the Nintendo 3DS release date is November 17 this year.

Pokemon Direct 2017: Every Pokemon Game and Release Date for Nintendo Switch and 3DS You Need to KnowFinally, it was also confirmed that Pokemon Gold and Silver – two classic Pokemon games from the GameBoy Color era will be re-released via Nintendo’s Virtual Console for the Nintendo 3DS. The games will be available the same day as Pokken Tournament DX – September 22.

Pokemon Direct – No Pokemon Stars for Nintendo Switch

As for Pokemon Stars? It seems that the oft-rumoured mainline Pokemon game for the Nintendo Switch was nowhere to be found. Could it be announced at Nintendo’s E3 2017 presentation? Unlikely. Rather, Pokemon Stars, if it exists, could see a 2018 announcement, if at all. If Pokemon Stars is meant to be an enhanced version of Pokemon Sun and Moon, it would essentially be Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Eagle-eyed forum members of NeoGAF claim that Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon was listed as ‘TBA’ for the Nintendo Switch on The Pokemon Company’s website. Though at the moment, it only seems to show the Nintendo 3DS version.

Xbox Scorpio Price to Be $399: Report

The Xbox Scorpio price could be $399 (around Rs. 25,780) according to noted analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities. During his show Pachter Factor, he set out to list his predictions for E3 2017, with the Xbox Scorpio price headlining it.

According to Pachter the Xbox Scorpio price has to be lower than what the Xbox One cost at launch and it would crucial if Microsoft hoped have a “chance of remaining relevant this cycle” and that the company can’t afford to “price themselves out of the market.”

Along with this, he anticipates a price drop on the PS4 Pro to $249 (close to Rs. 16,000). This is of course, assuming that Microsoft do announce the Xbox Scorpio to be $399. Reason being, Microsoft’s E3 2017 conference takes place 30 hours before Sony’s, giving the Japanese firm enough time to retaliate. He believes that a $249 price on the PS4 Pro along with PS Plus and Sony digital services would make for an attractive offer to consumers.

“If Microsoft prices the Xbox One Scorpio $499 or higher, Sony doesn’t have to do anything,” he said.

Pachter, like most analysts, has a mixed track record. Though pricing for Scorpio will be important and Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has said it won’t be cheap, $399 will be an absolute bargain for what it promises.

Xbox Scorpio Price to Be $399: ReportKeep in mind that the India Xbox Scorpio price will not be a direct conversion of the US price. If Microsoft India decide to make it available here (chances are it might not come officially as the Xbox One S has not), it will sport a higher price point due to duties, customs, and the like. Similarly, while the PS4 Pro might get a US price cut, India comes under Europe and Middle East for Sony, so any price drops will be in line with what these territories get.

At the moment though, the PS4 is handily outselling the Xbox One in every region with three PS4s sold for every Xbox One in Europe and two PS4s for every Xbox One sold in the US. Chances are, if you’re looking for a console to buy, you’re considering a PS4 simply because your friends own one or for greater availability of games as the case is in markets like India.

Xbox Scorpio Release Date Possibly Revealed in E3 2017 Teaser

We’re days away from Microsoft announcing the Xbox Scorpio price and release date at E3 2017. With analysts weighing in on a possible $399 price for the Xbox Scorpio, it appears that the console’s release date may be hidden in an E3 teaser from the company.

One teaser shows a large crowd at what seems to be music concert. On the stage to the right is “X10S101-317”. Assuming that X10S is Xbox Scorpio, you’re left with a possible October 13, 2017 Xbox Scorpio release date. This is a Friday and would be in line with the Xbox One that also launched on a Friday.

Previously it was suggested by analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities that the Xbox Scorpio price could be $399 (around Rs. 25,780).

Xbox Scorpio Release Date Possibly Revealed in E3 2017 TeaserLike most leaks and reports pre-E3, this should be taken with a fistful of salt. We’ll know for sure what to expect from Microsoft when its E3 2017 conference takes place this Sunday.

The Xbox One equivalent to the PS4 Pro saw a spec reveal a couple of months ago. At E3 2017 Microsoft is expected to finally tell us how much the Xbox Scorpio would cost (some reports claim $399), when you can buy it, and what games you can play on it.

With Microsoft’s conference being 90 minutes long, expect a large chunk of it to focus on Xbox Scorpio, and perhaps its VR and AR capabilities too.

Assassin’s Creed Origins Is the Next Assassin’s Creed Game; Setting and Editions Leaked

Assassin’s Creed Origins is the name of the next Assassin’s Creed game. According to a retailer pre-order card posted on Imgur, the game’s setting is Egypt what with a pyramid behind the logo and the Great Sphinx of Giza. The protagonist is seen as well, with a bow, arrow, and shield. This confirms a previous leak on the game’s title.

Assassin’s Creed Origins editions and price

Aside from the obvious standard edition of the game that should cost $60 (around Rs. 3,855), there should be, much like Far Cry 5, a Deluxe and Gold Edition. The former is hinted at in the leaked pre-order card and the latter is openly advertised.

Assassin’s Creed Origins Gold Edition

The Assassin’s Creed Origins Gold Edition should cost $100 includes:

  • Assassin’s Creed Origins Deluxe Pack (bonus DLC items)
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins Season Pass
  • Assassin’s Creed Origins Steelbook
  • Bonus mission: Secrets of the First Pyramids

assassins creed origins assassins_creed_origins

Assassin’s Creed Origins Deluxe Edition

Much like Far Cry 5, it’s safe to assume the Deluxe Edition of Assassin’s Creed Origins cost $70 and will have all the contents of the Gold Edition minus the Season Pass and the steelbook.

Asassin’s Creed Origins India price and pre-orders

At the moment there’s no pricing information for the game for India. Traditionally Ubisoft has priced its games at Rs. 3,499. However with the company raising prices on Steam by 100 percent, we won’t be surprised to see a price hike for Assassin’s Creed Origins for the PS4 and Xbox One at retail. Nonetheless, the game’s distributor, E-xpress is yet to confirm this. Expect this to be known after Ubisoft’s E3 2017 conference.

GTA V, WWE 2K17, and Uncharted 4 are Flipkart’s Top Selling Games; PS4 Games Sell Better than Xbox One

Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart has divulged to Gadgets 360 what its best selling games are in the country. These have been Flipkart’s biggest sellers in the last month.

Flipkart’s biggest selling games in India

  1. Grand Theft Auto V
  2. WWE 2K17
  3. Watch Dogs 2
  4. Uncharted 4
  5. Don Bradman Cricket 17

GTA V should come as no surprise. It’s been a sales giant the world over, years after its initial release. Neither does WWE 2K17 and Don Bradman Cricket 17 considering that wrestling and cricket are ridiculously popular in the country.

Sony’s Uncharted 4 also makes the cut, showing that the franchise does have more selling power than expected. The anomaly is Watch Dogs 2. Despite launching to critical acclaim, publisher Ubisoft had admitted that it did not sell as well as it liked.

In addition to this, the company’s most widely searched and rated games by its users over the last six months are as follows.

GTA V, WWE 2K17, and Uncharted 4 are Flipkart’s Top Selling Games; PS4 Games Sell Better than Xbox OneMost popular games on Flipkart

  1. Grand Theft Auto V
  2. WWE 2K17
  3. Watch Dogs 2
  4. Uncharted 4
  5. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
  6. Call of Duty: Ghosts
  7. Don Bradman Cricket 17
  8. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands
  9. Horizon Zero Dawn
  10. Battlefield 1
  11. Call of Duty: Black Ops III (Gold Edition)
  12. The Last of Us: Remastered
  13. Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate
  14. Max Payne

Again, no surprises here. Although the presence of Battlefield 1 — an EA title that’s exclusive to Amazon India is odd. On further inspection, it’s sold by a third-party retailer, Games Planet Impex and not Flipkart itself. Conspicuous by its absence is FIFA 17, another wildly popular EA franchise. If Battlefield 1 ended up making the list, you’d think FIFA 17 would. Evidently not. Expect this list to change after E3 2017 though, with gamers looking for newer titles to play.

Flipkart sales PS4 versus Xbox One versus PC

Flipkart says it receives more orders for PS4 games than Xbox One. Considering the wider availability and better bundles for the former, this isn’t a shocker. The Nintendo Switch isn’t anywhere due to not being officially present either.

While the company could not comment on how well the PC side of gaming was doing, PC peripheral manufacturers dominate its game pad sales over the last three months with the Red Gear Pro Series Wireless Gamepad being the top seller followed by the Red Gear Smartline PC Gamepad.

Rounding off the list is the Sony DualShock 4, Amkette Evo Pro 2, and Xbox One Wireless controller.

Flipkart’s share of the Indian games market

Although the company refused to say what its market share in the games business is, several publishers have confirmed with Gadgets 360 that Amazon’s entry has resulted in it losing ground. The general consensus amongst those in the supply chain peg Flipkart being around 12 to 15 percent of the games business in India. In the past, its prospects of continuing to sell games was shaky, but with the advent of this list and efforts in e-sports, it’s safe to say this is not the case for now.

Halo Gravemind Leak Suggests New Halo Game at E3 2017 and Halo 6 Beta

Halo Gravemind could be a new Halo game out this year. According to leaked promotional material allegedly originating from UK retailer GAME, Halo Gravemind has a October 10, 2017 release date and is developed by Halo Wars 2 and Total War studio Creative Assembly. There’s the Halo 6 logo on the bottom left that suggests a multiplayer beta akin to Halo 5.

The mainline Halo games like Halo 5 are developed by Microsoft’s 343 Industries. Frank O’ Connor, who is the Franchise Development Direct for Halo at 343, took to Twitter to debunk these claims. However, he also disavowed the existence of Halo: Master Chief Collection when it was leaked days before an official reveal.

halo gravemind Halo_Gravemind

An expansion based on Gravemind – one of the franchise’s villains and the Flood – parasitic alien creatures that made up one of Halo: Combat Evolved’s worst levels, The Library, may not be the smartest idea for the series. More so if you consider that this could very well be an expansion to Halo Wars 2.

Though keep in mind that the excellent Alien Isolation was also developed by Creative Assembly. And while the poster suggests a horror-theme to it, it could make for some interesting scenarios if Halo Gravemind was a survival horror action shooter mash up.

Like most leaks and rumours prior to E3, take this with a fistful of salt. Particularly when this specific promo lacks any branding that pertains to Xbox Scorpio.

CD Projeckt Red Says Hackers Got Hands on Early Designs of Cyberpunk 2077

The developer behind highly-successful The Witcher video game franchise, CD Projekt Red, is working on a new game called Cyberpunk 2077. However, the game is now in the news for all the wrong reasons as hackers have got access to the game’s documents and are demanding for ransom from the company. The hackers have warned the company that in case it fails to pay the ransom, they will make the game’s information available to public.

There are a lot of things to consider over here. First, there is a possibility that this might actually be a marketing ploy used by the company to promote Cyberpunk 2077, as it has made a very bold declaration that states it will not bow down to the demands of the hackers. However, CD Projekt Red has also claimed that the leaked documents are “old and largely unrepresentative” of the current vision for the game.

CD Projeckt Red Says Hackers Got Hands on Early Designs of Cyberpunk 2077Moreover, the developers have warned gamers that they should not trust any information that doesn’t come directly from CD Projekt Red. These things suggest that this might actually be a case of stolen property. CD Projekt Red has said that some of the early designs of Cyberpunk 2077 were obtained by hackers. As in the gaming industry, the initial designs can drastically vary from the final product, even if the hackers release these documents, chances are that the final game would be noticeably different.

If the narration by the developers is a true incident, this is a highly ironic situation but if it’s a marketing tool, we will have to appreciate the genius behind the campaign. It seems like we will have to wait some more to find out the truth as we receive more official information on the incident.

Assassin’s Creed Origins Release Date Leaked; Xbox Scorpio Frame Rate Better than PC Version: Report

Assassin’s Creed Origins has a release date. The game is out on October 27 and will be optimised for Xbox Scorpio. This comes via an issue of Game Informer magazine that managed to hit the public early and was promptly posted on Reddit.

Some interesting tidbits about the game include that it was in development shortly after Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, has a dynamic world, under water swimming, skill progression similar to what you’d expect from role-playing games, and raiding Egyptian tombs. The game’s protagonist is called Bayek and he can use a shield to deflect arrows and pick enemy arrows off his shield.

Assassin’s Creed Origins Xbox Scorpio versus PC frame rate

In addition to the above details, it seems that Assassin’s Creed Origins has been built for Xbox Scorpio. According to Game Informer:

“Assassin’s Creed Origins is among the first games to support Microsoft’s new Scorpio console, and we got some hands-on time with it to see if the game is noticeably improved on the more powerful hardware. On PC, our demo was running at a fairly steady 30fps. On Scorpio, the frame rate felt more consistent, even at 4K resolutions. Other than that, it was difficult to see a huge improvement in our demo. The monitor was fairly small, so unless we pressed our faces against its glass, we’d be hard-pressed to notice a tremendous difference from the standard version we’d been playing earlier.

Assassin's Creed Origins Release Date Leaked; Xbox Scorpio Frame Rate Better than PC Version: ReportUbisoft said it got the game running within weeks of receiving their development kits, which speaks to the ease at which developers may be able to get their games ported to Scorpio. It is important to note that both versions of the game are still being optimised, so what we experienced might not be the final product. Still, it was great to see a game running on the new hardware, even if it’s ultimately too soon to make anything close to a final verdict.”

Assassin’s Creed Origins editions and price

  • The standard edition will be priced at $60 (around Rs. 3,860)
  • The Deluxe Pack will come at $70 (almost Rs. 4,500)
  • The Gold Edition will include Deluxe Pack and season pass, and cost $100 (roughly Rs.6,440).
  • If you’re willing to spend $110 (around Rs. 7,100), you’ll get the Gold Steelbook Edition that will come with the Deluxe Pack, the season pass and a steelbook.

The game should retail for Rs. 4,000 in India for the standard edition on PS4 and Xbox One.

With Microsoft’s E3 2017 press briefing before Ubisoft’s, we won’t be surprised to see the game demoed on Xbox Scorpio. Considering that Call of Duty: World War 2, Destiny 2, Far Cry 5, and FIFA 18 would be marketed exclusively for the PS4 and PS4 Pro, Assassin’s Creed Origins may be marketed for the Xbox One and Xbox Scorpio.

  • Project Dylan – Bioware’s new IP will see a reveal according to the schedule of EA Play that found its way to the Internet.

  • Need for Speed Payback – after a welcome return with a fantastic trailer, hopefully EA takes time to explain to us why this wasn’t called Need for Speed Fast and Furious.
